Well most of you know we have had a rough year. We moved to California last April, I went dragging my feet, but I tried to have a open mind and consider it a new adventure. It was not the best experience for all of us including Rich. We met a few friends and had a really fun ward in Red Bluff, CA., but other than that it wasn't the best experience for our family. 6 months into our journey it ended, things weren't working out with Rich's work and the kids and I had, had enough with everything so we headed to Arizona. We gave it our best for 6 months, but we still were home sick for Hurricane. Our renters had moved out of our home and it was sitting vacant. We listed it for short sale, but as the price kept dropping, our hearts continued to break. We went to Hurricane for Jackson's baptism and our hearts were full and we decided as a family we had a lot of praying to do. As we started the praying and fasting, we knew without a doubt that we needed to be back in Hurricane. We as a family needed it and the kids needed it. We are back in our home loving being home. We still have hurdles of working things out with the mortgage company and Rich is still working in AZ seeing us every 2 weeks. But things are going good, our prayers continue to get answered and the Lord is very aware of our situation and is helping us over the hurdles one step at a time. Rich should be joining us at the beginning of May. I do not recommend moving away to anyone, however, it has put things into perspective for us and we so appreciate everything Hurricane has to offer. We have some of the best neighbors, they have been so wonderful and I love the no knock policy! We have enjoyed the yard full of kids again, and feeling like we belong. We love how we feel when we are here, protected and safe. We just had to learn some humility and boy did we ever. We know the Lord wants us here and we are ready to accept whatever comes our way, we know we are here to stay one way or the other. And it feels great!

Hurricane Weekend

We went to Hurricane this weekend for a Baptism of one of my favorite 8 year old! We had so much fun! It was a great service and we are so excited for Jackson and the choice he made to be Baptised!

We also attended a funeral of a very sweet lady, she was one of Rich's many Hurricane girl friends, she will be missed but what a legacy she has left behind. I only pray that my family and friends will feel the same about me!

We had to cut our trip short a day as Rich had a work emergency so hopefully we can get back soon to see our cute Jamie, Emalee and Brado!

Our hearts remain in Hurricane with everyone, it was sooo hard to leave and come back to Arizona where we are really struggling with friends and fitting in!

Look at me! Two post in one day! We are doing the 12 days of Christmas for the kids and grand kids! Our theme this is year is "Catching the Spirit of......" this day was Christmas cheer...by singing loud so all can hear! So the grand kids got these little helpers to get them in the spirit! We didn't get pictures from all of them, but for those we did receive, they look pretty cute!

Pretty funny to me...I state in my last blog I want to get better at this and now it is December and I haven't blogged since. The funny thing is I was talking about moving to CA and we have already moved away from CA and back to AZ! Wow things have changed a lot. I am so ready for 2011 and to get back on track and a new start! I have moved all I want to for a long time and don't plan on doing it again for many years. I miss my Utah friends so much it hurts sometimes :(
But I am glad to be back closer to everyone, and getting reaquainted with my AZ friends :)

I know that sounds funny coming from me as I get the title of worse blogger ever... I really want to be better really I do, I just fall really short when it comes to updating my blog. I think a lot of it is I am not very good at making it interesting like a lot of my friends so I think why bother, but at least I can update it.

Well, as most of you know we moved to California....Northern CA that is, no Disneyland, no beaches, just hot desert surroundings, with a few lakes and rivers. It is a little crazy for me and I am still really struggling with the whole thing, but really I am trying! I really miss my kids, and grand kids and am trying to figure out how to balance it all. Plus I really miss my house and my cute neighbors. But, I know we need to be here right now, and we have work so I need to be grateful and quit feeling sorry for myself and enjoy the blessings that I do have..

Kirsten is having a baby girl in less than 6 weeks, and everyone is doing good. She was just out visiting us for a week and we had a lot of fun. This will make 7 grand kids for me!

Cooper turned a year old, Braden turned 2 and Emilee turned 5! These cute grand kids of mine are growing up!

Tanner turned 12! He is now a Deacon and gets to pass the Sacrament for the 1st time tomorrow.

Madi and I just got back from girls camp a couple weeks ago and had so much fun....I love girls camp and the spirit you feel there. Plus, we had cabins and showers along with electricity...what else can a girl wish for.

What more can a girl ask for, I need to be excited for the new changes and enjoy life.....go me!

Kirsten and Ben have had 2 ultrasounds and in both of them the baby has chosen not to disclose its gender.....however in this last one she (the technician) thought that she got a quick glance and that it was a girl...but she told them to keep all receipts of everything they bought as she wasn't sure! For those of you who know Kirsten...it is driving her crazy! At least she only has 4 months to go! On the brighter side her fluid levels are back up and everything looks great and she is moving right along.

I guess change is good.......we have found ourselves in quite a situation lately without much hope and then out of the blue...or answers to prayers...many of them I might add ... we think there might be a little light at the end of this tunnel we have been in :) We will just keep praying and our fingers crossed for good measure but change is definately coming for the Monks :)

Kelly...the bride!

I went home last weekend for my dad's birthday and Dan and Kelly's wedding! It was a quick trip but a fun one. Rich and I had an anniversary last week so we went to Vegas for the night and then he came back to work and I flew out to KC. So Wednesday we were in Vegas. Thursday I was in KC heading to the lake. I spent the evening with my parents at there favorite place the "Elks Lodge". Friday morning I was up early and heading back to KC, however, I was able to stop in Warrensburg and have breakfast with my cute niece Jill! McDonald's it was, as she had a 9 o'clock class. It was so fun to see her and catch up on what was going on in her life. I love that cute girl! :) I headed on off to Brooke's house (another one of my favorite cute girls!) and we went to decorate for the reception for Kelly. We had a lot of fun doing this. Then that evening I went out for dinner with my sister Deb and Mindy and Mindy's 2 kids, Macie and Landon! They are so funny I laughed most of the evening, we topped it off with some amazing ice cream cones for Russell Stovers! It was fun and I am glad I was able to spend time with them. Saturday was the wedding and the reception which were great and a lot of fun. I drove a H3 in between those too, I felt like I owned the road! My parents and my little brother Mike and his wife Karen were at the reception too! They always make for a great time and a lot of excitement! Sunday morning I was up at the crack of dawn, flying back to Vegas and back to Hurricane for a 1:00 Sacrament meeting with the Primary Program....Tanner's last one by the way! I was a tired girl, but it was so fun!

I am neglectful to my blog and I hate it! I really enjoy reading other peoples blogs but I am the worst at keeping mine up....so just a quick update. My cute neighbor and her husband went to Hawaii to attend a wedding for her little sister who is the cutest ever and I am truly happy for the cute couple! I have been keeping my neighbors kids while they are there! Who got the better end of this deal......hum! We are on day 9 and there are 5 of them 2 six year old's, one 10 year old, one 11 and one 12! Along with my 2, we have had fun but I am getting too old for this! I am on the down hill slide as they get back early Wednesday morning. The hardest part is my house is taking a beating but it is all temporary! I am just glad that Ashlee and Corey were able to go and have fun.....but it will be time soon for me to take a break...any takers????

So everyone was in town a couple weeks ago. Scott and Jamie sold their house here in Hurricane and are officially moving to Mesa for a few years. Scott has been working in AZ and Jamie has been traveling back and forth! Jourdan and Mike are moving from Phoenix and looking for a place in Salt Lake it all depends on employment for Mike but they will be in Northern Utah. This post is dedicated to Tanner Monk!

He turned 11 this week and it is hard for me to realize that he is that old! He is my baby and he is growing up so fast and I wonder sometimes if I am not seeing that!

He is this amazing kid with so much life in him! He is definitely his fathers child, he is outgoing, funny, musical and has a heart bigger than life. He just really finds something good in everyone and continues to try to please us. I love everything about this kid and he makes me want to be a better person.

He recently did a summer musical program through the high school, it was Willy Wonka Jr, and Tanner had the part of Augustas Gloop. I posted a few of the pictures sorry they are a little blurry we could not use a flash so they aren't the best.

Tanner and Kirsten at her wedding, he has a hard time with everyone getting married and moving out, but he is excited for them and glad to have more family members. He and I laugh about how many nieces and nephews he will have by the time he is 20! He will have his own fan club for whatever event he is participating in! :)
Tanner is just this all around great kid! Those who know him know what I am talking about! Happy birthday Tanner and thank you for who you are and what a great example you are to me, I learn so much from you everyday! I love you buddy!

Well, it has been a crazy couple of weeks! Lets see, you all know Cooper was born on the 27th of May, Rich and I left on the 29th of May for a couple of days. We flew back to KC to his brothers 50th birthday party! We had a lot of fun, Rich and I got back on the 31st in the evening. I was able to do some house work and laundry and Madi and I headed off to KC again on the 4th!Driving this time.....

We looked pretty cute when we started driving!!!!

We tried to "sleep" around 3 in the morning after driving all night be we started laughing at ourselves and couldn't quite do it. So we ended up just driving! We arrived at my little brother Mike's house and he and his wife live on a farm. They even have a Llama named Charlie!

I have to admit he is my favorite.(the llama) We got up Saturday morning and headed to a graduation party for a cousin of mine who graduated from Medical School then off to my sister Dee's house

I haven't been around my family for a get together in YEARS when they take pictures of all the girls together so I was excited! We were still missing my niece Mindy and then Kirsten, Randi, Jourdan, Holly and Jamie but at least Madi and I were able to be in one with most of the KC family! We had a great night it was a lot of fun. We left the next day Sunday morning and drove all night again...

Madi took this picture some time in the middle of the night...this is how we felt! We arrived home Monday afternoon in time to pack and get ready for girls camp!

I love skit night at camp.....do you think I should get extensions and go platium???? We are now home and have had a catch up week! Man did I have alot of laundry and a dusty house! I think I will be home for a few weeks anyway.....Next trip AZ! :)

Cooper James was born at 3:49 this morning weighing in at 7lb4oz and 18 1/2 inches long. Pretty good size for 3 1/2 weeks early! He is a little cutie and looks just like Kameryn. Both mom and baby are doing great, Holly is amazing and doesn't mess around when it comes to delivering babies! We love all of them so much and are so excited for their family! Here is a couple pictures~ they might post above this as I haven't figured out the whole post with picture thing!!!!

Okay so I have been extremely bad with the whole blog thing!!! I have been planning a wedding so that should explain the whole thing. So Kirsten's wedding is less than 4 days away. She is going through the temple today as it is 11:50 on Tuesday and by the time I get done with this it will officially be Wednesday. We are so excited for her and Ben and are trying to enjoy this time in her life with her, but I must admit I am going a little crazy! Kirsten and Ben took pictures last night and we have a sneak preview of them as we wanted to have a few at the open house on Saturday! They had a lot of fun taking them and it was so fun for me to be there with them to watch. So here are the previews for my blogger friends! I will post more after the wedding! Easter Morning/Day

We had a fun Easter this year even though all of the family wasn't together we will still get to see them all. We saw Jourdan and family and Scott and family on Friday and Saturday, and Justin and Holly came over on Sunday with Kameryn. We had an Easter egg hunt with her and we all had a lot of fun watching her excitement. We will get to see Randi this Friday so we get to see all of them over a short period of time. Easter Weekend

So Easter weekend was so much fun for us. We went with our neighbors down to Mesa to see the Easter pageant. We stayed with our friends the Olsen's and had fun times. We arrived Friday afternoon (in our rented 15 passenger van which was a ride in itself!) went straight to the temple grounds to start reserving our seats. We just sat around, some of us ran a couple errands and had to return in a frantic rush as after 5:45 you can no longer save seats so Rich was calling us to get right over as soon as we could. The Olsen's arrived and helped with the cause, and Kirsten, Ben, Ashley, Sydni and I arrived shortly after keeping our seats. Jourdan, Mike, Tyler and Xander all came also it was a lot of fun. Well worth the wait.

Saturday morning, we wen't with the Olsen's to their ward Easter breakfast, it was going to be outside but due to rain (rain in AZ what is that all about) it was moved into the ward building. We had the 13 of us and then Scott, Jamie, Emalee and Braden joined us also, what a way to crash a ward party. Rich and I were in their ward over 9 years ago so I guess that counts for something! It was fun to see people we havent seen in years but it was even more fun to be with Scott and Jamie and kids. After the ward party all of us went back over to the Olsen's. The kids all decided to swim in the COLD water and most ended up in the hot tub including my biggest child Rich. Us with brains sat and watched them all swim, Emalee started out with pulling her pant legs up and just getting her feet wet but by the end of the swim she was in her undies swiming with the rest of them....So much for mom trying to not get her clothes wet, I think she can thank Grandpy for that one! We headed back to Utah around 3 but not before stopping at On the Border getting some AZ mexican food! How we miss that place. We arrived home around 11:30pm. It was so much fun, short and sweet but we loved seeing everyone.

Rich and I usually don't have the best luck but the last couple of days have been good for us.On Tuesday I realized that my tags were due on the car! Go figure with everything going on in our house I would let something slip by!! So I ran it into the place to get an inspection and that's where the story begin. I found out it had seen better days and was going to start costing us money soon very soon! So Rich and I decided maybe we would try to sell it and see what happens, I posted it on Craigslist within a couple hours the calls were coming in and it sold within 5 hour of the posting....SCORE! So today we went out and bought a newer vehicle, not the car of my dreams by any means but it is safe, 6 years newer and gets better gas mileage! Go us....I am just grateful for small and simpe things that just are answers to our prayers, just reaffirms we are doing what we should be doing at the right time!

Wedding Invites

So Kirsten had this great ideas for her invites, they are her colors and then they had a ribbon tied in a knot on them. So 300 invites later I think "hum Michelle do you think postage might be more with the know sticking up.." Well I take a little trip to the post office and sure enough double the price as they have to be hand sorted!!!! SO.....I get to take the know off all of them and come up with a new ribbon idea, I finally figure that out and am stuffing the invite and picture into the cute little nightmare invite that I already re-did and Ben says " shouldn't this say "your" company not "yor" company.. he finds a type-o on the invitation! This is AFTER I stuff all 300 so now I get to pull them all, run back over to printing company that made the mistake talk them into a rush job since it was their error and start the process over again!
When you get your invite you better love it and enjoy the hours it has taken to send it!!!!! :) Did I mention how happy I will be when these lovely things are off my dining room table!

Yard Work man oh man

So...Kirsten and Ben thought it would be fun to have the open house in our backyard! For those of you that have seen my backyard you understand where this is coming from, for those of you that haven't it is a pecan nightmare! We have been working every moment we can in that back yard. Not kidding I have 45 bags of pecans and leaves bagged up ready for the trashman. Yesterday I tilled and raked for 6 hours and got half of it done, the sod comes Thursday. It is SLOWLY coming together slowly that is. What ever happend to using the ward building! It will be amazing when it is all ready but for now I don't think I have a bone in my body that doesnt hurt!!! :)

Happy Sunday, look at me go! Two text within a short while!
We had a two hour block today as we were able to attend the Draper Temple dedication via satellite from Draper. It was a lot of fun, I think Tanner was expecting more but it was a good experience for the kids. I was explaining the rooms of the temple as they were showing them on a slide show before it started and they showed a sealing room and I have to admit I was a little teary eyed thinking about being there in less than 6 weeks with Kirsten, that is my little girl and I don't know if I am ready to let go yet, when did she grow up enough for this! I know it is what we have wanted for them and it is all part of the plan but it doesn't help my heart from hurting a little. I know that they will be close by but 'face it, it is never the same, so enough of the poor me's! :) Our friends the Olsen's from AZ were up this week, Brad and Marcy had some business in Provo so the kids stayed with us for a few days, Madi, Jake and McKenna had a lot of fun, I have attached a few pics to prove it. It was sad to see them go but we will see them in April as we are heading down to AZ to see the Easter Pageant!

So I am only 2 months behind on keeping up with my Blog! I have been busy with wedding plans and so forth. Some day I will be better at this whole Blogging thing but until then I will repent:(

So we have a wedding coming up on May 9th and we are really excited. Ben is a grat guy and he is so good for Kirsten. The house is a buzz trying to get things done and ready. She finally decided on her colors so the work is on. We are having the open house in our back yard so we have a lot to do, hopefully it will all come together.

So I am only a few weeks late......I am going to try and do better. So January is up and running and I thought after the holidays it would slow down a little but it hasnt happened. Madi is playing club volleyball so we are traveling to Salt Lake at least one weekend a month. Tanner is singing at Hurricane idol on the 31st for anyone interested in it. He just preforms this year and gives the prize to the new Mini idol, he can try out again when he is old enough for the next age group. He is singing Jonas brothers... should be fun. Kirsten is looking for a job, so if you know of any Salon's hiring let us know.....other than than we are all up and running!! :)

Christmas Lights

So the fam wasnt very happy with me when I made everyone help put the lights up last weekend, however they were glad when we could turn them on Thanksgiving evening and not have to work in the rain this weekend putting them up. So I have to admit I made the most amazing rolls for dinner, they were just so beautiful, I am so glad Jason was in town so he could take this photo of them so I had proof!

Our Thanksgiving was quite but still a lot of fun, Jason came down from Provo and Justin, Holly and Kameryn came over from St George. You would of thought that we were feeding the whole neighborhood with all the food we had, but I must say my family has done a pretty good job at eating the left overs all weekend long. I think a big pot of turkey noodle soup and we will have most of it taken care of. :) The missionaries came over later in the evening and we had fun visiting with them, hearing the stories of all the food they had eaten during the day, but the biggest eater award goes to Ryan Massey at our house, I think he ended up eating 4 Thanksgiving dinners throughout the day.

Jourdan and Xander moved to Arizona today, it was sad for us but now she will be closer to Tyler and that will be good for her family, we will sure miss them being so close.

Black friday was fun, Madi and I met Justin in town and the three of us mastered Walmart and Target, it was their 1st time, and they were troopers, I must admit however, I was missing Sarinah and Emily and our black friday days, I just wish I could find some black friday friends in Utah.....it is a little hard to shop for someone that is with you. I was able to get the things I wanted for the grandkids so that was great, after arriving home, Jason and I decided to go out and hit a couple more stores, so off to town we went again, and he was able to get some good and he didnt even have to fight the crowd, some people have all the luck!

So we had to run down to Arizona this past weekend and we were able to attend the Santa Rita 1st Ward sacrament meeting. How fun was that it was like going home, it was great to see everyone and how much the kids have grown. Wish we could of spent more time there it made our hearts happy and sad all at the same time. High school volleyball

High school volleyball is so intense! It puts so much stress on the parents watching. I remember back in the day playing volleyball and you could only score if your team served and the other team missed, now you get a point every time someone messes up.....And the spandex those girls have to wear....what ever happened to go ole gym shorts! Well, Madi loves it and she is becoming quite the player, we really do enjoy watching her games and being right in the middle of it all. Thanks Madi for letting us come!

As I think about my kids and my husband, they are amazing. I have so many children that are "heros" in so many ways in my eyes. I don't really know why Heavenly Father has given me so many in my birth children, my step children and my children by marriage, but they are amazing.

1st Day of School

Tuesday the 12th was our first day of school, I hate it, not one of those moms who enjoys them going back. I am no longer watching Kameryn since Justin and Holly moved to St. George and I was released from Young Women's so I am going crazy......it is a little quite in our house, you would think I would get tons of stuff done, but I have yet to see it accomplished....soon I hope!
Tanner wasn't very excited about the 1st day but he is doing better now, he actually has more girls than boys in his class so he is liking it more and more every day. He really doesn't like the math homework, but recess, reading and lunch are great! Madi is in high school! Well, 9th grade is at the middle school, but officially a high school student as far as records go. She made the freshman volleyball team and is also suiting up JV so she is pretty excited. She has lots of bruises learning how to dive but doing great!

We dropped Madi off at EFY at BYU, it was a fun drive and fun for those traveling. We made a stop at the hospital and saw a family that lived on our street. They moved to Spanish Fork last year. They have a 15 year old son in critical ccondition in the hospital fighting for his life. It really puts things in prospetive and how quickly your life can change. The saying live each day to its fullest....continues to come into my mind. Our prayer are with Spencer and his family.

A week later......

So I thought I would be good with this whole blogger thing.......So 9 days later I get back to it. Madi leaves for EFY on Monday her 1st year so Kirsten, Madi and I went to Vegas on Thursday and Friday to do school/EFY shopping. We had a lot of fun, especially eating at our favorite places that we used to go to in AZ. Thursday night we went to Macaroni Grill and had a very strange waiter that thought he was pretty funny but we didn't quite get his jokes. As we were getting ready to leave he asked us what ward we were in so we felt a little guilty for making fun of him, but we knew he could be one of the stars in a singles ward movie, the one that drove everyone crazy! Friday we did a little more shopping and headed home. It was 118 degrees when we left, that is something we don't miss about AZ we were glad to get back to the 108 degrees in Hurricane. :)
